Clients include state and county government agencies, attorneys, private investigators, private clients and major corporations.
Orchid Cellmark in Dallas, Texas has an opening for a Laboratory Technician - CODIS in our expanding Dallas facility.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing consistent, high quality support for the general function of laboratory operations by processing samples according to site specific standard operating procedures.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Conduct a wide variety of procedures in the areas of DNA identification testing based on training received and completed(e.g., punching or cutting samples, extraction, amplification, loading samples, quantitations, and operation of automated equipment).
- Performs and follows established procedures as set by quality assurance and safety guidelines. Performs quality control duties as assigned including participating in proficiency testing.
- Receive and accession samples; return samples at end of testing.
- Records all observations completely and correctly.
- Operates computers and laboratory equipment used in the laboratory correctly and safely.
- Assist in the management of records.
- Prepare solutions and reagents.
- Work in a team processing environment.
- Clean laboratory instruments, refrigerators and freezers.
- Assist in tracking inventory of all supplies needed in laboratory.
- As part of the Company's ongoing effort to ensure compliance with the provisions of Sarbanes Oxley SEC 404, this position is required to assist the Company in testing the effectiveness of its internal control environment, under the supervision of the Manager of Internal Audit.
Requirements:
- BS degree with a major in biological science, chemistry, or related science.
- General laboratory skills with working knowledge of laboratory practices
- Prior laboratory experience preferred, but not required.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must meet ASCLD/LAB accreditation requirements.
- Successful completion of training modules and competency tests.
