The Evidence Technicians assigned to the Department of Public Safety, Forensic Laboratory provide support to the Forensic Scientists in the investigation of crimes by receiving, storing and maintaining physical evidence custody, security and control. Proper collection and storage methods are important to protect the evidence. The position is also responsible for professional customer service, data entry, file management and records keeping.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.
  • For positions in the Forensic Laboratory, one (1) year experience in general clerical work and computer operations. For positions in the Law Enforcement Records Bureau, one (1) year experience in general clerical work and computer operations.
Employment Requirements:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
  • Position is safety sensitive designated.
  • Employment will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation, pre-employment drug test and random employment drug testing.
Working Conditions:
  • Lifting light to heavy objects/equipment, walking, standing, sitting, bending, noise from equipment and instruments, handling firearms, exposure to chemicals and biological fluid stains, and travel by state owned car or small aircraft.
