Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in the production of forensic photographic products including measuring photographic processing solutions and mixing color chemistry solutions; perform other laboratory functions and tasks in support of police department forensic photographic activities.


Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED, plus five (5) years of photographic and evidence handling experience.
  • Possession of a New Mexico Driver's License (Class D), or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
  • Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
  • Advanced photographic chemistry
  • Operational characteristics, services and activities of a photographic laboratory program
  • Modern and complex principles and practices of color processing
  • Operational characteristics of forensic photographic and video production equipment
  • Automated negative processing and printing
  • Photo editing software i.e. Photoshop
  • Portrait lighting techniques
  • Basic record keeping procedures
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations
Preferred Skills & Abilities
  • Operate color processing and printing equipment
  • Operate forensic photographic cameras
  • Operate advanced digital cameras and flash systems
  • Interpret and explain City criminalistics policies and procedures
  • Prepare clear and concise reports
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public
  • Communicate clearly and concisely
  • Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including a variety of City and other government officials, community groups, and the general public
