Requirements:

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in a forensic science, chemistry, biochemistry, biology, social science or criminal justice field.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Four (4) years of professional level experience as a Crime Scene Analyst actively engaging in crime scene investigation and analysis involving identification, collection, lab processing and preservation of evidence, interviewing, records management, documentation and evaluation of forensic evidence.
  • AND
  • Two (2) years of supervisory/management experience with a law enforcement crime scene unit with an active laboratory.
EQUIVALENCY(IES):
  • High school diploma or GED plus eight (8) years of the required experience including two (2) years of supervisory/management experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
  • An associate's degree in any field plus six (6) of the required experience including two (2) years of supervisory/management experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a non-specified field plus six (6) years of the required experience including two (2) years year of supervisory/management experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
  • A master's degree or higher in a specified field plus two (2) years of the required experience including two (2) years of supervisory/management experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
LICENSE(S) and/or CERTIFICATION(S):
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
OTHER REQUIREMENT(S):
  • Must successfully complete the DPD Internal Forensic training program within sixty (60) days of hire.
  • Must have or be able to obtain certification from the International Association for Identification (I.A.I.) and/or DPD certification within twelve (12) months of hire.
  • Must have or be able to obtain the International Association for Identification (I.A.I.) and/or DPD certification as a qualified ten-print and/or latent print examiner within twelve (12) months of hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITY(IES):
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • MS Word/Excel or similar software skills
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds
