Salary: $5,203.47 - $7,162.13 Monthly

The Scientific Investigations Bureau of the Sheriff's Department of San Bernardino County is recruiting for Sheriff's Supervising Crime Scene Specialists. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for six months.

Duties:

Sheriff's Supervising Crime Scene Specialists supervise a unit of Sheriff's Crime Scene Specialists and provide administrative staff support. In addition, this class is expected to fully participate in crime scene investigations, as well as the review and approval of subordinate reports.

Requirements:

Opt. 1
  • Experience: Three (3) Years Experience as a Crime Scene Investigator or Forensic Scientist with a Law Enforcement Agency to include (lead worker of other Crime Scene Specialists in processing crime scenes, including homicide investigations, bloodstain pattern interpretation, gunshot trajectories, and reconstruction procedures).
  • AND
  • Education: Masters Degree or PhD in Forensic Science, police science or related physical or natural science.
Opt. 2
  • Experience: Four (4) Years Experience as a Crime Scene Investigator or Forensic Scientist with a Law Enforcement Agency to include (lead worker of other Crime Scene Specialists in processing crime scenes, including homicide investigations, bloodstain pattern interpretation, gunshot trajectories, and reconstruction procedures).
  • AND
  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Forensic Science, police science or related physical or natural science.
Opt. 3
  • Experience: Six (6) Years Experience as a Crime Scene Investigator or Forensic Scientist with a Law Enforcement Agency to include (lead worker of other Crime Scene Specialists in processing crime scenes, including homicide investigations, bloodstain pattern interpretation, gunshot trajectories, and reconstruction procedures).
  • AND
  • Education: Associates Degree in Forensic Science, police science or related physical or natural science.
Opt. 4
  • Experience: Eight (8) Years of Experience as a Forensic Scientist or Crime Scene Investigator with a Law Enforcement Agency to include (lead worker of other Crime Scene Specialists in processing crime scenes, including homicide investigations, bloodstain pattern interpretation, gunshot trajectories, and reconstruction procedures).
Desired Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive lead experience in processing a wide variety of evidence from crime scenes, including trace, blood splatter, biological, firearm, gun trajectory, impression, bomb/arson, entomological, and other general types of evidence; and be familiar with ASCLD/LAB requirements.
  • This department is a "24/7" operation, and the incumbent can expect to work rotating, night, weekend, day, and graveyard shifts, as well as holidays and weekends.
  • An extensive background investigation is also required.
  • Certified by International Association for Identification is highly desirable; indicate certificate number and expiration date.
