Evidence Technician/Quartermaster

Salary: $16.00 Hourly

Performs responsible administrative work maintaining chain of custody and disposing of evidence and is responsible for the management, control, accountability and distribution of equipment and uniforms for all sworn and non-sworn employees.

This is a limited service position approved for 19 hours per week. Schedule will be Monday- Friday between the core hours of 8am - 5pm. The set work schedule (days of week and hours per day) will be determined upon hire.

  • Receives, examines, documents, stores, and preserves property to ensure proper chain of custody, control and integrity according to State/Federal law, departmental policy, and Accreditation Standards.
  • Has the ability to testify in court relative to evidence handling and chain of custody.
  • Will assist with disposing evidence and/or unclaimed property according to State/ Federal law and Departmental policy.
  • Transports evidence to the State Crime Lab and Wake County CCBI for analysis.
  • Assist in maintaining the evidence room in a organized manner.
  • Maintains packaging supplies and forms.
  • Processes subpoenas for digital evidence.
  • Attend job related training.
  • Process Uniform/Equipment request.
  • Inspects, orders, issues, stocks, and inventories department equipment/supplies.
  • Performs related duties as required.

  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and other law enforcement agencies
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, and to handle multiple tasks.
  • Applicant must have a working knowledge of computer databases, spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, email and the Internet.
  • Ability to provide superior customer service to both internal and external customers.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma and some experience in a record keeping and inventory role or an equivalent combination of education and experience. E
  • xperience working with evidence or uniform ordering and tracking a preference.
Special Requirements
  • DCI certification within 6 months of hire, and NC Driver's License.
  • Employment is contingent on the ability to pass an extensive background check.
