The Chester County Coroner’s Office is seeking a Coroner’s Investigator, Part-time, to join our team.

Include but are not limited to case evaluation to determine acceptance or declining of jurisdiction, responding to death scenes investigations, phone investigations and death notifications. Conducting investigations including interviews, securing of records and collection of evidence, securing medical records and taking photographs. The investigator is also responsible for arranging or providing transport of the deceased by the investigator or transporter. Perform other duties, tasks and office functions as determined and assigned by the Coroner or Chief Deputy Coroner.


  • Must live in Chester County.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus two years documented experience in a medical, pre-hospital or law enforcement setting. The position requires passing of the State Coroner's Training within 18 months of hiring and National Certification within 30 months of hiring.
  • The work environment may include exposure to hazardous or dangerous conditions including but not limited to waterways, roadways, harsh weather, unsafe structures, odors, body fluids and infectious diseases. Past experience or education in Medicolegal Death Investigation or certification by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) will be considered advantageous.
  • Applicant must possess a valid drivers’ license.
  • Must be available for week night shifts (11:00 pm to 7:00 am), Saturdays and Sunday from 7:00 pm until 7:00 am along with occasional week day shifts.
  • Hourly rate $18.66
  • This position requires criminal background and child abuse clearances.
