THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION WITH NO GUARANTEE OF A CERTAIN NUMBER OF HOURS AND NO BENEFITS. WORKING ON A TEMP/SEASONAL CONTRACT WHICH CAN BE RENEWED ANNUALLY BASED ON PERFORMANCE AND BUSINESS NEED.

An experienced technical position assigned to the Latent Print Unit of the Crime Center and Forensic Division. This position is responsible for assisting the Latent Print Unit and the State Attorney’s Office with fingerprint comparison requests utilizing the ACE-V methodology to examine tenprint evidence, maintaining laboratory and other analysis tools, preparing reports, and providing expert testimony. This is a contract position with the Crime Center and Forensic Division of the Orlando Police Department (OPD).

Duties

Examples of Duties
  • Responsible for the analysis, documentation, receipt, comparison, and storage of tenprint evidence.
  • Examines known record print evidence utilizing the ACE-V methodology to include Judgement and Sentencing (J&S).
  • Maintains chain-of-custody of evidence.
  • Assists with obtaining known record prints from live individuals as needed.
  • Prepares and/or maintains reports, files, records, and other documentation; gathers and compiles information; and reviews work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provides customer service in accordance with law enforcement protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • May conduct tenprint training as assigned.
  • Operates AFIS/NGI.
  • Maintains laboratory and associated equipment.
  • Utilizes personal protective equipment according to the prescribed safety standards and regulations.
  • Provides expert testimony and prepares displays to present information in court.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, Computer Forensics or Forensic Psychology

Requirements

Minimum Requirements
  • Completion of forty hours of IAI (International Association for Identification) approved program, or equivalent specialized training related to tenprint analysis, comparison, and evaluations.
  • Must complete the FDLE AFIS Certification within (3) months of starting.
  • A valid Florida Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record
  • Must pass police background investigation, which includes polygraph examination.
  • Certification as a Tenprint Examiner from the International Association for Identification is preferred.
