Duties

Principle Duties:
  • Maintain integrity of evidence by following policy and protocol of evidence collection, storage location and required entries into reporting system.
  • Arranges to return property to rightful owner when appropriate to do so. Follows proper procedure to document and follow state law pertaining to release of property and evidence.
  • Writes report into FatPot system documenting entry and movement status.
  • Help with annual statewide audit.
  • Prepare and/or process documents; review for accuracy and completeness; update information and/or evaluate against policy.
  • Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written materials.
  • Retrieves data found in databases to generate requested reports.
  • Acts as a resource to provide information or determine the most effective way of meeting the needs of management, staff, clients or customers.
  • Verifies data entry by comparing the source document against input data, utilizing automated verification system, using dual entry or other verification technique.
  • Maintains and/or creates files or record keeping systems. Sorts, labels, files and retrieves documents, or other materials.
  • Reviews cases, applications, files, records, etc., to determine action.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, Computer Forensics or Forensic Psychology

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Has professional customer service skills
  • Is self-motivated
  • Has great communication skills
  • Has computer skills with Word, Excel, etc.
  • Knows how to deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact and professionalism
  • Has sound decision making skills
Preference:
  • Preference may be given to current employees of the Utah Department of Public Safety.
