Greenville County Department of Public Safety Forensic Division is a leading forensic science laboratory dedicated to providing high-quality, state-of-the-art forensic analysis services. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of scientific rigor and integrity in our work. As part of our mission to support law enforcement agencies and the justice system, we are seeking a talented Criminalist (Serology/DNA Analysis) to join our team. Greenville County is seeking a Criminalist to conduct evidence processing and serological examinations on evidence recovered from crime scenes.

Duties

This position is responsible for the analysis of biological material on evidence items; collecting samples for DNA processing; maintaining accurate and detailed documentation reflecting the analysis, findings and conclusions of the examiner; provide expert witness testimony in court proceedings; and to participate in quality control and quality assurance activities. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, Computer Forensics or Forensic Psychology

Requirements

  • Applicant must possess the minimum educational requirements published within the 2020 FBI Quality Assurance Standards.
  • The analyst shall have a bachelor's (or its equivalent) or an advanced degree in a biology, chemistry, or forensic science related area and shall have successfully completed course work (graduate or undergraduate level) covering the following subject areas: biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology; and course work in statistics and/or population genetics as it applies to forensic DNA analysis.
  • Applicant will be required to obtain a law enforcement certification, or other certificated and licenses as determined by the Assistant County Administrator for the Greenville County Department of Public Safety.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License, clear FBI/SLED background check, and a good credit report.
