Senior Stores Clerk - Property and Evidence

Salary: $44,574.00 - $72,322.00 Annually

Employee in this position is responsible for the receiving, cataloging, warehousing and disposing of evidence, contraband or personal property taken into Police Department custody. Contact with other departmental employees is extensive. Contact with the public and other government officials is considerable.

This is journeyman level store keeping work providing a wide variety of supplies and materials or a specialized store keeping function to support the activities of County departments and agencies. Work involves responsibility for operating a moderate to large size storeroom which ordinarily involves a wide variety of commodities. Responsibilities may include establishing storage methods and procedures, maintaining inventory records, and requisitioning items not in stock. This position may function as a lead worker. Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other related duties may be assigned:
  • Works and cooperates with co-workers and supervisors at levels.
  • Learns and performs all essential job functions accurately.
  • Receive, catalog and store evidence which comes into Police custody. Employee is also responsible for disposing of property and returning property to rightful owners.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of the 12th school grade and one (1) year of related experience in stores/warehouse inventory work.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Experience performing similar work in a police setting, warehouse or material control office; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS, MATHEMATICAL SKILLS, AND REASONING ABILITY:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
