Salary: $22.20 Hourly

Under general supervision, is responsible for performing a variety of professional and technical work in photography and in a photographic laboratory. Enlarges, reduces, and copies photographs, charts, and other materials. Working conditions are in an inside and outside environment with exposure to temperature extremes and various chemicals and cleaning compounds. Exercises no supervision.

Duties

Essential Job Functions
  • Photographs subjects both indoors and outdoors, in-house and in field. Produce police credentials, Retirement and Retiree Firearms proficiency ID's and 2fa ID's.
  • Takes black-and white or color photographs of moving or stationary subjects that involve no significant problems of speed, motion, color contrast, unusual lighting, or depth-of-field.
  • Makes accurate enlargements, scans negatives and photographs and converts to digital format. Intake filing and secure storage of CD's containing digital photographic evidence.
  • Varies intensity of photographs by shading (dodging and burning) them selectively during printing.
  • Produces master prints from negatives in poor conditions and makes new negatives.
  • Instructs Police Officers in the use of photo equipment.
  • Performs minor maintenance on photo equipment. Inspects and maintains inventory supplies.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
  • Two (2) years of experience in photography and photo developing.
  • Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions.

  • Valid Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of professional photographic equipment such as cameras, lenses and filters.
  • Knowledge of fundamental methods, techniques and procedures used in commercial photography.
  • Knowledge of lighting equipment and various types of film used in different light situations.
  • Skill in operating modern professional camera equipment.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position.
