Join the Public Defender’s Office as an IT Forensics Technician. In this dynamic role, you will travel to various locations to collect, identify, and preserve digital evidence while providing essential technical assistance to investigators and staff. Your expertise will also be vital in editing and enhancing video recordings, maintaining IT systems, and handling help desk duties to resolve technical issues. Knowledge of DVR systems is crucial, and you will be on-call to address urgent issues as they arise. Duties

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Travel to various locations to collect, identify, and/or preserve digital evidence.
  • Provide technical assistance to investigators and other staff, ensuring they have the necessary tools and support.
  • Assist lawyers in developing and/or preparing digital, electronic, and/or demonstrative materials for trial, ensuring all technological aspects run smoothly.
  • Edit and enhance video recordings.
  • Handle help desk duties, resolving technical issues for staff and ensuring optimal functionality of all equipment.
  • Maintain and update IT systems, ensuring security and efficiency.
  • Be knowledgeable in DVR systems and their maintenance.
  • Be on-call to address urgent technical issues as they arise.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements to continually improve our tech capabilities.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Associates degree, two (2) years of college, or equivalent.from an accredited college or university.
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience Information Technology.
  • One (1) year in digital forensics/media or similar role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, and security.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical team members.
  • Willingness to travel and handle fieldwork.
  • Proficiency with DVR systems and troubleshooting.
Preferences
  • Education: Undergraduate degree, preferably in Digital Forensic Science or Computer Science/Engineering.
  • Experience: At least one (1) year of relevant experience, with a strong understanding of the forensic lifecycle, ability to perform scoping activities, evidence acquisitions on a range of devices, and conduct forensic analysis at an intermediate level.
  • Additional Skills: Experience in digital forensics and evidence retrieval is a plus.
