Salary: $25.79 - $51.92 per hour

This announcement is being used to fill a Drug Chemist Forensic Scientist in the Pocatello Laboratory that may also be trained in blood alcohol analysis and breath alcohol instrument calibration. This will either be Forensic Scientist 2 (FS2) or Forensic Scientist 1 (FS1) positions as an underfill.
The FS1 is an entry- level position, which will work under the direct supervision of a more experienced FS2. The incumbent will be certified as an FS2 upon successful completion of a specialized training program and two (2) years experience in the FS1 position (or) demonstration of meeting the minimum qualifications and *qualifying work experience of an FS2 and six-month probationary period of 1,040 hours. Pay will be adjusted accordingly at the time the incumbent is certified as an FS2.
FS1: To perform scientific examinations and analyses of evidence samples and/or individual characteristic database samples per current laboratory protocol; learn to employ a range of increasingly technical and complex methods of scientific analysis; maintain the integrity of evidence; develop professional and analytical communication skills; acquire a comprehensive understanding of uses, functions, and limitations of analytical tools; perform routine quality control duties as assigned.
FS2: To perform a broad range of complex scientific analyses of evidence samples and/or individual characteristic database samples per current laboratory protocol; maintain the integrity of evidence; testify as an expert witness; provide training for members of law enforcement, attorneys and medical personnel as applicable; perform routine quality control duties as assigned.
