Duties
Washington County's Evidence Unit processes and maintains approximately 100,000 pieces of physical evidence and over 200,000 pieces of digital evidence annually. In this position you will maintain, and document evidence processed by the Sheriff's Office and other public safety agencies, as well as transport and recover collected evidence from crime scenes. As an Evidence Officer, an eye for details, organizational skills, and great communication is key. This position is built around accurate record keeping and inventory control, in addition to report writing, maintaining logs and testifying in court. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working with basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, inventory databases, and able to use bar code readers. They must establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups who come from diverse backgrounds and represent members of the public, coworkers, and/or vendors. This position may be required to respond to crime scenes and remain calm and rational in these routine and non-routine situations.Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics
