Duties

Under the direction of the Coroner this position performs a variety of administrative and forensic analytic duties to assist the Coroner in maintaining coverage for the Coroner’s Office. These duties include but are not limited to responding to death scenes, conducting or assisting with the investigation at the death scene, making notifications, transporting of remains, and other related activities of the office.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND FORMAL TRAINING:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented with college level coursework in related fields such as criminal justice, law enforcement, forensic science, biology or medical-related.
  • Minimum one year death investigation experience in Medicolegal capacity or one-year medical professional experience.
  • Must pass background check including criminal history.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:
  • Possession of a valid Colorado driver’s license at time of hire and throughout employment.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within one year, Death Investigation Academy Certificate and Colorado Coroners Association certification.
  • Must take FEMA Incident Command Systems 100, 200, 700 and 800 at a minimum.
