Coroner Transporter

Salary: $18.92 - $24.60 Hourly

Final Filing Date: Continuous

The purpose of this position is to transport the remains of deceased to the County Morgue. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.

Duties

Examples of Duties
  • Reports to the deceased’s location to pick up the remains and transport to Beaufort County Morgue.
  • Completes, processes, and maintains forms, documents, records, and files.
  • Follows departmental security policies and procedures.
  • Maintains logs or records of transport activities.
  • Plans, executes, and inspects all aspects of the trip to ensure a safe and controlled travel environment.
  • Obeys all traffic rules.
  • Conducts pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicle.
  • Maintains vehicle cleanliness.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
  • Requires a short demonstration up to and including one month of related experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
  • EMT License.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
Supplemental Information
  • All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
